Open House Melbourne is a major event in Melbourne’s annual events calendar that has been running since 2008. It’s mission is to celebrate Victoria’s dynamic built environment and deliver programs that inspire and inform our community and encourage them to engage with, explore and understand built form in our cities, towns and region.
The Event is held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July 2025. It is a weekend where Open House Melbourne celebrates built form by opening up buildings, places and spaces, inspiring the public to visit precincts and engage with these wonderful structures and hear their stories.
The theme for the 2025 event is Stories of the City, and we believe South Yarra has some wonderfully rich and diverse properties to open and stories to tell.
Open House is looking for open buildings, tours, talks and events that tell unique stories about the city. Shaped by its transformation over time and the diverse communities that live here, the city is more than its bricks and mortar—it is about people and place. They want to hear stories that connect people with the city’s past and present, uncovering the narratives that have shaped Melbourne’s identity.
Previous open houses have included Prahran Arcade, Kings Arcade, Firestation Studio, Chapel off Chapel and Prahran Square – we would love to get a cluster of Open House events across our Toorak Road South Yarra precinct to bring people into the area to encourage them to stay and explore.
